Jenny Gottstein is a Principal Experience Designer in the Design For Play studio at IDEO, where she focuses on audience interaction, immersive learning, and multi-dimensional storytelling. She is passionate about building resilience, engagement, and creative solutions through play.
IDEO’s Design for Play team leverages the science of play to make a wide range of products, services, experiences and systems more engaging, sustainable and enjoyable. The team consults on physical play spaces (amusement parks, playgrounds, learning environments), digital game concepts and mixed reality projects (AR/VR). Based out of IDEO's Toy Lab, the team draws upon 40 years of experience in the toy industry to bring play to a variety of industries, including Finance, Health, Mobility and Education.
Jenny was recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30 for interactive game design. Prior to IDEO she designed over 600 events that blurred the lines between reality and fiction, digital and analog, education and entertainment. With clients ranging from Apple, Nike, HBO, Google, WeWork, IBM, Kaiser Permanente, YMCA, to California Refuse Recycling Council, Jenny has led immersive game projects, creativity trainings and design workshops around the world.
Before belly-flopping into game design in 2010, Jenny produced music and art events in NYC, covered youth protests in Chile, interviewed the oldest working showgirl in the US, sang on an acid-house Lady Gaga remix that was briefly popular in Ukraine, and founded a company that reduces waste through parties.
Throughout her career, Jenny has worked to create unique shareable moments that inspire a sense of wonder, intrigue, humor, and victory.
